Safeguarding & Supervision Policy
At PMA Thanet, the safety, safeguarding, and wellbeing of every child in our care is our absolute priority.
To ensure the highest standards of supervision, parents and guardians are not permitted to enter the white gated area while classes are in progress, except where expressly authorised by management.
1. Safeguarding & Supervision
This policy is in place to ensure that instructors maintain a clear, unobstructed line of sight of all students at all times within the holding and training areas.
Unrestricted adult movement within the gated space may unintentionally obstruct visibility, which can compromise effective supervision and safeguarding standards.
Maintaining a controlled environment allows our team to:
Monitor all students consistently
Respond quickly to any safeguarding concerns
Ensure structured and safe class transitions
2. Emotional Wellbeing & Confidence Building
The white gated area also serves as a child-focused breakout and regulation space.
Some children may experience heightened nerves or feel overwhelmed when multiple adults are present. By maintaining this area exclusively for students and instructors, we:
Support emotional regulation
Encourage independence
Build confidence from the outset
Create a calm, safe environment for all children
3. New or Nervous Students
We understand that some new students may feel anxious during their first session.
Where appropriate, a parent may be permitted to sit in for a child’s first lesson, subject to instructor discretion. However, this is not generally recommended, as encouraging independence is a core part of our development approach.
4. Parent Waiting Area
Parents and guardians are warmly invited to wait in the designated seating area beyond the gates, where tables and chairs are provided.
You will remain close by at all times, and your child will be able to see you if reassurance is needed.
5. Agreement & Compliance
By enrolling your child at PMA Thanet, you agree to comply with this safeguarding policy.
We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us maintain a safe, structured, and supportive training environment for every student.
